Call for Tutorial Proposals
.

INTRODUCTION

The IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference, sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society, is a major annual international conference organized with the objective of bringing together researchers, developers, and practitioners from academia and industry working in all areas of consumer communications and networking. IEEE CCNC 2008 will present the latest developments and technical solutions in the areas of home networking, consumer networking, enabling technologies (such as middleware), and novel applications and services.

High-quality tutorials are an asset to every conference and will, therefore, also be part of the program of IEEE CCNC 2008. They complement research reports of the technical sessions by providing participants with broad and comprehensive overviews of emerging fields. There are six half-day tutorials planned for Saturday, January 12, 2008. Three tutorials will be presented in the morning and the other three in the afternoon. All tutorials will be free to attend for conference participants. Tutorial presenters will be offered a modest honorarium.

AREAS OF INTEREST

The areas of interest for tutorials are the same as for the IEEE CCNC 2008 conference (see the Call for Technical Papers for details):

Wireless Routing and Transport
Network Access and Communications
Multimedia Networking
Communications and Info. Security

P2P Networking and Content Distribution
Emerging Technologies and Applications

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Proposals should be submitted electronically to the tutorial chair:

Peter Utton at peter.utton@elec.qmul.ac.uk before the submission deadline of August 17, 2007. The preferred format is PDF, but proposals in the form of plain text, Microsoft Word, or Postscript will also be accepted. When preparing your proposal, please use the tutorial form linked from this page in Microsoft Word or PDF format.

REVIEW PROCESS

Tutorial proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their estimated benefit for prospective participants and on their fit within the tutorials program as a whole. Factors to be considered include: relevance, timeliness, importance, and audience appeal; suitability for presentation in a half-day format; and past experience and qualifications of the instructors. Selection is also based on the overall distribution of topics, expected attendance, and specialties of the intended audiences. Thus, not all tutorials of technical merit may be accommodated.
