| Publicity Co-Chair George McClure (USA)
A past regional director (2006-2007) for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), George McClure represented 30,000 electrical engineers in the southeastern United States. He is current chair of the Awards & Recognition Committee for the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board and a member of the IEEE Life Members Committee.
He is a past president of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS), chair for its conference board, and also served as its treasurer. He was the founder of the Orlando Section chapter for VTS. For 35 years, he served as an elected member of the VTS Board of Governors, as chair of two VTS international conferences as well as AUTOTESTCON 1981, all held in Orlando.
He has made presentations at every IEEE-USA Professional Development Conference since 1987 and has been a presenter at three tri-annual IEEE Sections Congress events, as well as at various section meetings and Student Professional Awareness Conferences.
In 1999, he received the IEEE-USA Award for Distinguished Contributions to Engineering Professionalism, its highest award, as well as two IEEE-USA awards for outstanding service as a regional chair for professional activities. He continues his second decade as Technology Policy Editor for Today's Engineer on the Web, a webzine for IEEE-USA.
He was elected an IEEE Fellow in 1981 for contributions to spectrum efficiency for cellular communications and subsequently became a Life Fellow of IEEE. He is a recipient of both the IEEE Millennium Medal and Centennial Medal. George retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation after more than 30 years in communications-electronics, engineering both tactical military communications systems and the later civilian cellular application coordinated with the Bell Labs' Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS) for which he wrote and was awarded two patents.
George received Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering degrees from the University of Florida.
