Welcome to the N2 Women Website

Networking Networking Women (N2 Women) is a discipline-specific community for researchers in the communications and networking research fields. The main goal of N2 Women is to foster connections among the under-represented women in computer networking and related research fields. N2 Women allows women to connect with other women who share the same research interests, who attend the same conferences, who face the same career hurdles, and who experience the same obstacles.

Our first meeting was held at the ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing (MobiHoc) on May 24th, 2006 in Florence, Italy. Since May 2006, several other N2 Women meetings have been held at various ACM and IEEE research conferences (see the list under Events). We have created an email list for the N2 Women group, N2Women@acm.org, to assist in our networking goals. There are currently over 320 members of N2 Women!

N2 Women is an ACM SIGMOBILE program that is supported by the IEEE Communications Society, Microsoft Research and HP Labs.

Participating in N2 Women

There are three ways you can participate in N2 Women:

1. Join N2 Women. To join, email N2Women-Membership@acm.org your full name, your email address, your organization's name (e.g., university or company), the location of your organization, your occupation at that organization (e.g., PhD student, post doc, scientist, etc.), and the URL of your web page (if one exists). Note: the amount of traffic on this list is quite small.

2. Attend one of the planned N2 Women meetings. To RSVP your attendance, see details for the specific conference.

3. Organize an N2 Women meeting at a conference you will be attending. To organize a meeting, email N2Women-Info@acm.org for assistance. You can find an easy step-by-step plan on how to organize an N2 Women meeting here

LinkedIn Group

NEW: N2women is represented now on LinkedIn as a professional group. We post jobs openings, project cooperation requests, new publication announcements, and discussions on all topics of computer networking and the representation of women in computer science in general. To join the group, create a LinkedIn account and then search for "Networking Networking Women" under LinkedIn groups (don't forget to use quotes!). There are also subgroups, e.g., a working group on wireless sensor networks. If you need more information before or after joining, contact the manager of the group, Anna Förster.
